Consumer Electronics Show - Las Vegas

Last month Zylux representatives travelled to the Consumer Electronics show held in Las Vegas. For 50 years the CES has been the premier event to showcase to the world the latest gadgets and innovations. Many products launched at CES have changed the world of technology. Attending CES provides valuable insight into the future of technology and the emerging trends. With over 3,800 companies in the exhibition we were able to get a look into many next-generation innovations before they are introduced to the market.
We were thoroughly excited by several products that we had the chance to engage with before they hit the market. One of the areas that excited us most was the progression and innovation within wearable technology. In 2015 39.5 million U.S Adults used wearable devices an increase by 57.7% over 2014. This level of growth is expected to continue well into the future with 81.7 million adults expected to use wearable technology by 2018.
Primarily wearable technology has been confined to smartwatches and fitness trackers however one of the newest areas of innovation is within smart-clothing. Smart clothing is ultimately the progression of fitness trackers offering a larger canvas to work with for additional features that were never before possible,
Visijax Jackets were a wearable technology product that we were incredibly impressed with. Visijax is another brand exploring how wearable technology can further integrate with our daily activities. Visijax is a jacket designed to provide cyclists with a safer riding environment and ultimately provide them with the confidence to feel safe on the roads. The jacket does this by making cyclists more visible to other road users. The jacket is lined with LEDS that light up at night and contains LED indicators that are motion activated to let other road users know when the cyclist is turning which can be particularly useful in dark or unclear conditions. We believe wearable technology including smart-clothing will revolutionise rider safety and is a step in the right direction for reducing the amount of cyclists that are killed or injured on Australian roads.
Some of the wearable technology showcased at CES looks like it may change the market of clothing much like the iPhone changed the market for phones. Attending shows like CES allows us to stay ahead of the market so that we can supply the Australian market with the most innovative technology as soon as it becomes available.
